No one wants to spend hundreds or even thousand of dollars on a nice watch have have it not look nice and clean. We did some digging and found eight steps to help you keep your watch looking as nice as the day you bought it!
The first step is to clean it yourself. This can be just taking a soft rag and wiping it down to get as much dirt and dust off best as possible, we suggest doing this after every wear. Then every couple months our watchmakers suggest to soak the watch in soap and water to loosen the dirt. It is so important to make sure you do your research on your specific watches cleaning instructions before completing this step.
Second, it’s important that you keep in mind when getting a luxury watch you are going to want it serviced roughly every 2-3 years. This will allow your watch to last through the ages and remain nice and clean on the inside. Be sure to remember Times Ticking with this step because this is a large part of what we do.
The third step is a breeze, simply avoid magnets, this will mess with your watches ability to keep time.
Fourth, we suggest to always take my watches off when dealing with water because it is not worth the risk when a watch says water resistant. Now if you want to wear your watch any way, be sure to be aware of your specific watches limits. Sometimes pressure change can be too much for even waterproof watches so look into that before swimming with your watches. Now if your watch is waterproof that is a different story.
The fifth step goes without saying but take care of the crystals. Take every possible precaution to avoid hitting your watch against hard surfaces car doors, windows counters, etc.
Sixth step, keep the original case or box your watch came in to store it in. This protects it from getting scratched and helps keep your watch safer just in general.
Avoid extreme temperatures, if possible. These are Luxury watches we’re talking about, remember?
Step seven is to avoid chemicals this includes harsh cleaning products, oils, cologne, and perfume. When using cleaning supplies for your watch always go with super simple ones. Then if you are going to wear Cologne and such be sure you have given it sufficient time to dry to not mess with your watch.
Eight is by far the most straight forward. Read the watch manual. These steps given should work for most watches but there are always special cases. So to avoid any future issues read your watch manual to be completely safe.
These luxury watches are expensive and should be treated with care. Maybe one day it could become a family heirloom after you’re gone or perhaps that’s what you have already, either way treat these watches with care and respect.
