The Tutima Watch Company began in 1927 in Glashütte, Germany, under Dr. Ernst Kurtz, who led efforts to produce high-quality chronometers. In 1941, Tutima revolutionized aviation watches with the Flieger Chronograph, a flyback-equipped pilot’s watch used by the Luftwaffe.
After World War II, Soviet control forced Kurtz to relocate Tutima to West Germany. By the 1980s, NATO commissioned the Military Chronograph Ref. 798 for fighter pilots, reinforcing Tutima’s reputation. The company returned to Glashütte in 2011, and today, models like the Grand Flieger, M2, and Patria continue its legacy of precision and durability.
