Expert Care for Every Clock Style & Collection

The inspiration for the Ansonia chiming clock stemmed from the company’s desire to combine functional timekeeping with an enhanced auditory experience, reflecting the Victorian era’s appreciation for both utility and elegance. Ansonia sought to create clocks that not only kept accurate time but also added a melodic charm to homes and public spaces. Chiming clocks were inspired by the intricate bell mechanisms found in European tower clocks, adapting them into compact, beautifully crafted timepieces suitable for household use. The variety of chimes, often mimicking cathedral bells or Westminster tones, reflected the era’s fascination with musical and mechanical innovation, making these clocks both a practical tool and a symbol of refinement and sophistication.

We know that your Ansonia clock is important to you and understand that the sentimental value more often than not outweighs the monetary value. Our expert clockmakers strive to make sure your clock can be enjoyed for many years to come.

The inspiration for the Ansonia mantel clock was rooted in the late 19th century’s growing demand for elegant and functional timepieces that could serve as decorative centerpieces in the home. Mantel clocks were designed to sit atop a fireplace mantel or shelf, reflecting the Victorian era’s emphasis on ornate interior design. Ansonia sought to create clocks that combined precision timekeeping with artistic craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from European designs and incorporating elaborate details such as carved wood, marble, brass, and porcelain accents. These clocks often featured intricate embellishments, symbolizing wealth and sophistication while also providing practical functionality. The Ansonia mantel clock became a timeless representation of artistry and innovation in American horology.

The inspiration for the Ansonia regulator clock came from the need for highly accurate and reliable timekeeping in public and professional settings, such as schools, offices, and railway stations, during the 19th century. Regulator clocks were designed with precision in mind, often featuring weight-driven mechanisms and large, clear dials for easy readability. Ansonia drew inspiration from European regulator designs while incorporating American craftsmanship and innovation, creating clocks that were both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The regulator clock’s minimalist yet elegant design, combined with its reputation for accuracy, made it a staple in environments where dependable timekeeping was essential. Ansonia’s versions often included ornate wooden cases and high-quality movements, reflecting their commitment to blending utility with beauty.

The inspiration for the Ansonia statue clock stemmed from the Victorian era’s fascination with combining functional objects with artistic expression. Ansonia sought to create timepieces that were not only practical but also served as elaborate decorative pieces, reflecting the opulence and aesthetic preferences of the time. Influenced by European sculptural art and classical themes, these clocks often featured detailed statues made from materials like spelter or bronze, depicting allegorical figures, mythological scenes, or everyday life. The integration of the clock mechanism into the sculpture allowed Ansonia to craft unique designs that were both visually captivating and functional. These statue clocks became popular as statement pieces in homes, symbolizing elegance, sophistication, and cultural refinement.

The inspiration for the Ansonia wall clock came from the need for practical, space-saving, and visually appealing timepieces suitable for both homes and public spaces during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Ansonia aimed to create clocks that combined reliable timekeeping with artistic craftsmanship, catering to the Victorian era’s appreciation for ornate and decorative design. Drawing from traditional European wall clock styles, Ansonia incorporated intricate wooden carvings, pendulums, and striking mechanisms into their designs, often adding elements like painted glass panels or brass accents. These wall clocks were designed to be both functional and decorative, making them a central feature in kitchens, parlors, offices, and schools, where accuracy and elegance were equally valued.
