The Legacy of Cyma: A History of Precision, Style and Innovation

Cyma, a Swiss watch brand, was founded in 1862 by Joseph Schwob and Theodore Schwob in Le Locle, Switzerland. The name “Cyma,” derived from the Latin word for “summit,” reflects the brand’s ambition to create timepieces of exceptional quality and precision. In 1891, the company partnered with the Tavannes Watch Company, a move that allowed Cyma to grow into one of the largest watch manufacturers of its time. Known for its innovation, Cyma introduced features such as shock protection and water resistance, solidifying its reputation for reliability. The brand thrived through much of the 20th century, producing both luxury and military watches, including those used by British forces during World War II.
