Universal Genève, originally founded as Universal Watch in 1894 by Numa Descombes and Ulysse Perret in Le Locle, Switzerland, has been a significant name in the watchmaking industry. The company initially focused on producing complete watches with in-house movements. After Descombes’ untimely death in 1897, Perret partnered with Louis Berthoud, relocating the company to Geneva in 1919. Universal Genève gained recognition for introducing the first-ever chronograph wristwatch in 1917 and continued to innovate with models like the Compax series.
Today, the brand is esteemed for its heritage and contributions to horological advancements.
