The Legacy of Hamilton: A History of Precision, Style and Innovation

Hamilton offers a variety of watch models ranging from simple quartz pieces to modern technology-driven timepieces. The company uses common but high-quality materials such as stainless steel and sapphire crystal to produce their watches. Furthermore their movements are all ETA-movements which are very reliable.

Hamilton was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in the US. Later on, the company also took possession of Aurora Watch Company’s machinery after incorporation. Its first products were pocket watches and their primary customers were actually the railroads. In 1914, Hamilton became an official supplier to the US Armed Forces, and the brand expanded its reputation for producing quality timepieces, this also marks the shift in the company from making pocket watches to wristwatches. In 1957, Hamilton revolutionized the watch industry by producing the world’s first electrical battery-operated watch – the Ventura. Hamilton was purchased by the Swatch Group on May 19, 1974.
