Strela watches emerged in the Soviet Union during the Cold War as symbols of precision and national pride. First produced in 1959 by the 1st Moscow Watch Factory, they used the hand-wound 3017 movement—based on the Swiss Venus 150—and were issued to Soviet Air Force officers and cosmonauts. Strela gained fame when Alexei Leonov wore one during the first spacewalk in 1965, showcasing Soviet engineering to the world.

In the 1970s, Strela adopted the Poljot 3133 movement and expanded under names like Poljot and Sekonda. Though production declined after the USSR’s fall, modern reissues have revived the brand. Today, Strela watches are celebrated for their spaceflight legacy, collectible value, and durable mechanical design.
