Tense Watches, founded in 1971 in Vancouver, Canada, was the creation of Ken Lau, a master watchmaker who combined his expertise in engineering with a passion for sustainability. Lau pioneered the use of reclaimed and recycled wood in wristwatches, handcrafting each piece in Canada with quality movements from Switzerland and Japan, earning Tense recognition for its eco-friendly designs.

Over the decades, Tense introduced collections showcasing exotic woods like sandalwood, teak, and maple while maintaining a focus on ethical sourcing. Despite a change in ownership in 2014, the brand stayed true to Lau’s principles, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern sustainability.
