The Trenton Watch Company, founded in 1887 in Trenton, New Jersey, aimed to provide affordable yet reliable pocket watches. Specializing in 7- to 17-jewel movements, Trenton gained popularity among everyday consumers. In 1898, it was acquired by the Ingersoll Watch Company, which expanded its reach and later moved production to Waterbury, Connecticut, where Trenton movements became part of the famous Ingersoll “Dollar Watches.”
Despite financial struggles, Trenton watches remained popular for their affordability and reliability. Though the brand eventually faded, its pocket watches are now valued by collectors for their role in making quality timepieces accessible to everyday workers.
