The Triton watch brand began in the early 1960s, designed for professional divers under Jean-René Parmentier. Launched in 1963, the Triton Spirotechnique featured a 12 o’clock crown placement and articulating crown guard for durability and ease of use. Commissioned by Spirotechnique, Jacques Cousteau’s diving company, it was issued to the French Navy and rivaled military-grade dive watches like the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Its precision and rugged design made it one of the most expensive dive watches of its time, surpassing even the Rolex Submariner.
After fading for years, Triton was revived with the Subphotique, a modern version of the Spirotechnique with 500m water resistance and updated materials. Today, Triton is known for high-performance dive watches that blend military heritage with modern craftsmanship. The original Spirotechnique models are now rare collector’s pieces, celebrated for their pioneering design in professional diving history.
