The Legacy of Tudor: A History of Precision, Style and Innovation

Tudor, founded in 1926 by Hans Wilsdorf, the creator of Rolex, was established as a sister brand to offer high-quality watches at a more accessible price point. Initially registered under “The Tudor” name, the brand gained prominence in 1946 when Wilsdorf officially launched Montres Tudor SA, focusing on robust and affordable timepieces powered by third-party movements while retaining Rolex’s reliability and craftsmanship. Over the years, Tudor became renowned for tool watches like the Oyster Prince, Submariner, and Pelagos, catering to military, professional divers, and adventure enthusiasts.

After a hiatus in the early 2000s, Tudor made a strong comeback with its Heritage collection, blending vintage-inspired designs with modern technology, cementing its status as a leading watch brand worldwide.

Once your Tudor arrives at our facility, we promptly notify you to confirm its safe receipt. It then undergoes a meticulous process, including a detailed inspection, professional photography, and precise categorization to ensure an accurate assessment. Repair estimates are typically provided within a week, though cases requiring specialized parts may take longer as we consult manufacturers and vendors for availability and pricing. Once we have all necessary details, we will provide you with a comprehensive repair proposal for your approval. No work will proceed without your explicit consent, ensuring you remain fully informed and in control every step of the way.

The time required to repair your watch depends on various factors, including its model and the complexity of the work needed. Restoring vintage or antique timepieces, especially those over a century old, can take several months to ensure the highest level of precision and care. When providing your estimate, we aim to give a clear timeline, though sourcing specific parts may cause additional delays. Our priority is to keep you informed every step of the way while ensuring meticulous craftsmanship in every repair.

We are committed to meeting your specific timing needs whenever possible, while maintaining realistic expectations and open communication from the start. In watch repair, it’s often said, “Good work takes time,” and we stand by this philosophy, ensuring every repair is completed with the exceptional quality and care your timepiece deserves—even if it requires a little extra patience.

We take a meticulous approach to every repair to provide an accurate estimate tailored to your watch’s specific needs. While we can offer general insights based on your description, a precise estimate requires our watchmakers to personally examine your timepiece. This thorough evaluation ensures we fully understand the scope of work needed, allowing us to provide the most accurate assessment and the best possible recommendations for your cherished watch.

To ensure your watch arrives safely for repair, pack it securely in a sturdy box with ample protective materials and include the completed watch repair form. Proper packaging is crucial to prevent damage during transit and ensure a smooth assessment upon arrival. You can ship using any major carrier, such as USPS, UPS, or FedEx, based on your preference, but please avoid using the watch’s original box. For international customers, shipments typically transition to the U.S. Postal Service for final delivery unless sent directly via UPS or FedEx. Careful packaging helps us provide the best possible service for your timepiece.

Yes, you can send multiple watches in the same shipment. Please complete a separate Watch Repair Form for each timepiece and include the corresponding form with each watch. This ensures that every watch receives individualized attention and a tailored repair plan to address its specific needs.

International Customers: We proudly serve a global audience, with visitors from around the world trusting us with their watch repairs. To send your watch, simply print, complete, and include the repair form when mailing it to us. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process via email, using Google Translate if needed for clear communication in your language. Payments can be made securely through PayPal, and once repaired, your watch will be shipped back via the U.S. Postal Service, transitioning to your local postal service for final delivery. Please note that return shipping costs will be based on actual rates.

All approved repairs qualify for free return shipping. However, if you choose not to proceed with the repair, your watch will be safely returned to you. A shipping and handling fee of $10.00 USD applies, with an additional $3 per extra watch, payable by credit card. For international customers, we also accept PayPal for added convenience.

Expert Care for Every Watch Style & Collection

The Tudor Black Bay watch stemmed from Tudor’s rich diving heritage and its iconic Submariner models from the mid-20th century. Introduced in 2012, the Black Bay was designed to capture the vintage aesthetic of Tudor’s classic dive watches while incorporating modern technology and craftsmanship. Key design elements, such as the “snowflake” hands and domed dial and crystal, were drawn directly from Tudor’s historical models used by professional divers, including the French Navy. The Black Bay also reflected the resurgence of interest in vintage-inspired watches, blending nostalgia with contemporary reliability and versatility, making it a cornerstone of Tudor’s modern collection and a favorite among collectors and enthusiasts.

The Tudor Heritage watch collection was rooted in the brand’s desire to celebrate its historical legacy while appealing to modern tastes. Launched in 2010 with the Heritage Chrono, the collection was designed to reinterpret iconic Tudor models from the past, blending vintage aesthetics with contemporary technology and craftsmanship. The Heritage watches, such as the Chrono and Black Bay, took design cues from Tudor’s archives, including distinctive elements like bold colors, unique case shapes, and historical dial layouts, while updating them for improved functionality and wearability. This line reflected the growing popularity of retro-inspired watches and served to reconnect Tudor with its rich history, resonating strongly with collectors and enthusiasts.

The Tudor Pelagos watch came from the brand’s commitment to creating a professional-grade tool watch that could withstand the extreme demands of deep-sea diving. Introduced in 2012, the Pelagos drew from Tudor’s historical association with professional divers and military organizations, such as the French Navy, while incorporating modern materials and technology. Its lightweight titanium case, helium escape valve, and exceptional 500-meter water resistance reflect the watch’s focus on functionality and resilience. The Pelagos also embraced the minimalist, utilitarian aesthetic of traditional dive watches, catering to professional divers and enthusiasts seeking a robust, no-nonsense timepiece for underwater adventures.

The Tudor Royal watch was rooted in the brand’s desire to offer a versatile, elegant, and accessible timepiece that seamlessly combines sportiness and sophistication. Originally introduced in the 1950s and reimagined in 2020, the Royal draws from Tudor’s history of producing refined watches with integrated bracelets and fluted bezels. Its design reflects a blend of timeless luxury and practical functionality, catering to those seeking a stylish yet reliable everyday watch. The name “Royal” signifies Tudor’s commitment to superior craftsmanship, precision, and style, making the watch an appealing choice for both casual and formal occasions.

The Tudor Submariner watch came from the growing demand for reliable and affordable dive watches during the mid-20th century. Introduced in 1954, the Tudor Submariner was designed to provide professional-grade performance for military and recreational divers while leveraging the expertise of its parent company, Rolex. It combined robust construction, exceptional water resistance, and clear legibility under water, drawing heavily from the design and functionality of the Rolex Submariner but using more affordable components, such as third-party movements. The Tudor Submariner was particularly inspired by the needs of military forces, leading to its adoption by the French Navy (Marine Nationale) and other military organizations. This watch solidified Tudor’s reputation as a maker of durable, functional, and accessible tool watches.
